Moving Into a New Swindon Home? Plumbing Checks to Make First
Moving house is hectic enough without plumbing surprises. A few simple checks in your first week can flag issues early, before they become expensive problems.
First things to check
- ✓ Locate the stopcock and confirm it works
- ✓ Check the boiler's service history and warranty documents from the previous owner
- ✓ Test all taps and toilets for drips, running water, or slow drainage
- ✓ Check under sinks for any signs of past leaks - staining, swollen wood, or damp smells
- ✓ Note the boiler pressure and whether it's stable
Older properties
If you've moved into a period property, particularly around Old Town or other established parts of Swindon, it's worth having pipework assessed if it looks original - older lead or galvanised steel pipework can be prone to corrosion and reduced flow over time.
New-build properties
New-build snagging issues are common in the first year - check for anything not quite right and raise it with your developer's warranty while it's covered. We're also happy to carry out an independent check if you'd like a second opinion.
If anything looks off, or you'd simply like a professional once-over before you settle in, our team can carry out a full check - see our full range of services.
